FAQ’s

  • Candle Safety!

First and foremost, NEVER EVER leave a lit candle unattended, especially with children or fur babies near by. Never place your lit candle near loose or flammable items or substances! ALWAYS be mindful and cautious with any sort of a lit fire!

  • What Is In Your Candle?

Each and every candle from WWFMCS is handmade and poured with love and care. Always using products that are only high quality. We are starting to phase out soy wax from our line and introducing a coconut and beeswax blend infused with eco-friendly or natural fragrances and essential oils. We use real natural crackling wood wicks that give off a soothing low crackle to help set the right ambience. Why the wood wicks, you ask? They are natural wood with no toxins or metals infused in them that can harm you or your loved ones, plus, they just look really cool! With that being said, there are cotton wicks that are also eco-friendly that we, at WWFMCS, may be introducing into some of our collections later down the road. Yes, I know exciting stuff coming soon! Now, what is NOT in your candle? Anything that can be released into your space that contains harmful chemicals or toxins such as Phthalate, Paraffins, Carcinogen, Mutagens, or heavy metals.

  • What Are The Typical Burn Times?

With proper burn sessions starting with the initial burn and candle care, the typical burn times are as follows:

    3 oz - 10+hrs

    4 oz - 20+hrs

    8 oz - 40+hrs

    12 oz - 60+hrs

*These are the typical burn times as shown however there may be many circumstances that can occur that will alter these times such as: wind (drafts) and/or initial candle maintenance and the wick trimming.

  • Tips For Taking Care Of Your Candle To enjoy Longer

On your first candle burn, Light the wick and allow it to burn for at least 1 hour or until at least the top layer of wax has completely liquified. This initial step is kind of a big one as if it is blown out before the melted wax has reached the walls of the jar, it will create a pool of wax surrounding the wick which will cause the wick to drown and burn out and create a constant quick drown out effect and cause the candle to diffuse, and that’s not good! The wax remembers the initial burn path and will want to keep burning within that path. Now for the wood wick, because these wicks are natural wood, they are all unique just like us! Some may light up and stay lit so flawlessly and others may be a little more temperamental and may need to be lit a couple times before it also, like the wax, remembers its burn path and begin to stay lit. After your first burn and each burn going forward make sure to cut or chip off most of the charred edges of the wick leaving about 1/4”, or a smidge more is fine, of the wick. This will avoid the flame being too high and burn too hot which can lead to a potential fire hazard and/or decrease the burn cycle of the candle. Lastly, after you are done enjoying your candle for the time and blow it out, make sure the fire is completely out then cover the candle to retain the fragrance for another enjoyable burn! Never turn your candle out by placing the lid on the jar. Because most of these lids are wood, if the candle happens to not be completely out, that spark may cause the wood lid to catch fire.

  • Why Do We (WWFMCS) Use Soy Wax? SEE UPDATE BELOW...

Well, Soy wax is derived from a plant. Which means there are no toxic chemicals emitted. It is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans and after harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it solid at room temperature. Which means the wax melting point is lower than a paraffin wax meaning the soy candle will last longer and will bind well with other natural and eco friendly fragrances and essential oils. We (WWFMCS) use vegan, biodegradable and sustainably sourced soy wax.

    12/7/2024 UPDATE:

We have begun to phase out soy from our line and switching over to a natural coconut and beeswax blend. Don’t worry! there is nothing wrong with soy. As I mentioned here before, we may introduce another great natural wax blend that will meet our expectations of being high quality, natural, and eco safe as well as aesthetically looking the best even after the first burn all the way until the last burn. Well y’all, I FOUND IT! I’m so excited to bring to you a NATURAL COCONUT AND BEESWAX BLEND! both being natural and sustainably sourced, both having natural health benefits, well folks, this is a win win in my book!

  • Will We (WWFMCS) Ever Use Other Types Of Wax??

As much as we love the clean burn, we at Wicked Wick forgery Mays Candle Studio, will NOT compromise that clean burn. We may however look into ADDING another clean organic additive such as coconut wax or beeswax for a couple reasons. As you will notice after the first burn of a 100% natural soy candle, well let’s be honest, it’s not going to look all that pretty and smooth on top like you first bought it. That’s just the way soy wax works. The functionality is not compromised but the look definitely is not looking it’s best! By adding another high quality natural wax, that will resolve the aesthetics issue after the first burn while continuing to stay true to a clean natural burn. Another reason we may add to our soy wax is, well, what’s not to love about burning something that will actually help clean your air from dust and pollen which is what beeswax can do OR the great multi uses of natural Coconut Oil! Like the eco wick, you may see a high quality natural blend of waxes also introduced into some of our editions later down the road, so stay tuned!

  • Tips to Re-Curing Your Candle After Delivery-MINOR Case!

Yikes! I got home a little too late after my candle was delivered and it was hot outside and my candle started to melt and look uneven at the top. What can I do to fix that? Well, USUALLY, the following steps can help: Make sure your candle is sitting up right, take some foil and wrap the outside of the jar about the same level as the inside of the wax, just single layer around should work. Take a blow dryer on low to medium heat, heat the top of your candle in slow circular motions just close enough until you see the top layer of wax begin to evenly liquify and become leveled. Once you see the top layer look like it is evenly melted from wall to wall of the jar, you can turn off the blow dryer and let the candle stay sitting up right for about 2-3 hours until the wax has clearly and completely hardened back up. Remove the foil. That’s it!
